Juan Soto’s recent home run has placed him among MLB’s top run producers. Soto hit his 39th homer of the season during the New York Yankees’ 4-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, driving in two runs to bring his RBI total to 100 for the season. Soto and Aaron Judge are now the second pair of teammates in MLB this year to achieve triple-digit RBIs, joining Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor of the Cleveland Guardians, who have also surpassed the 100-RBI mark.
Judge and Soto are the first Yankees teammates since 2011 to both record 100 RBIs in the same season, a feat last accomplished by Curtis Granderson (119), Robinson Cano (118), and Mark Teixeira (111). Additionally, the outfielders are the first teammates since David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez in 2006 to both have 100+ RBIs and 100 walks in the same season.

This marks Soto’s third season with at least 100 RBIs. He drove in 110 runs in 2019 with the Washington Nationals, where his teammate Anthony Rendon also had over 100 RBIs as they won their first World Series. In 2023, Soto recorded 109 RBIs with the San Diego Padres, where he was the only player to reach 100 RBIs as the team finished the season with a .500 record.
Soto and the Yankees have been among the best teams in baseball in 2024, sharing the AL’s best record of 84-62 with the Guardians. Soto’s recent home run brings his career total to 199, just one shy of the 200 milestone, and he’s on track to finish the season with 109 RBIs. The Yankees’ next game is Thursday night against the Boston Red Sox.
