On Tuesday, Duke guard Isaiah Evans announced his decision to return for his sophomore year with the Blue Devils.
The former five-star prospect from Huntersville, North Carolina, quickly made waves with the news.
But no reaction stood out quite like that of Rutgers freshman Ace Bailey, a projected lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Bailey, who had a stellar season for the Scarlet Knights after being ranked the No. 2 high school player in the country by 247Sports, shared his thoughts in an Instagram story on Wednesday. He posted a photo of Evans with the caption “Returning” and added a casual “Workkkkkk” at the top.
Evans’ choice to bypass a potential late first- or early second-round selection in the 2025 draft gives Duke a big boost following the exits of Cooper Flagg, Tyrese Proctor, and Kon Knueppel.
The dynamic 6-foot-6 wing had a breakout 19-point game against Florida State on March 1 and nailed six three-pointers in a matchup with Auburn back in December.
Though he averaged only 13.7 minutes per game, Evans proved to be Duke’s most accurate shooter, connecting on 41.6% of his shots from beyond the arc.
