The Minnesota Vikings agreed on a two-year contract extension with defensive tackle Harrison Phillips on Tuesday. Phillips, known for his run-stopping ability, is one of the team’s most dependable players.
At 28, Phillips is in his third season with the Vikings. In the season opener against the New York Giants, he tallied five tackles, one sack, a quarterback hurry, and a pass deflection. The Vikings’ defense held the Giants to just 240 yards and six points in that game.

Phillips started all 17 games in each of his first two seasons with Minnesota. Last season, he posted a career-high 92 tackles, the second most among NFL defensive linemen, only behind Derrick Brown’s 103.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 307 pounds, Phillips has been pivotal in the Vikings’ defense, helping them rank fourth in the league by allowing just 3.76 yards per rush in 2023.
Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Phillips was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the third round of the 2018 draft after playing at Stanford. This season, he was named one of the Vikings’ eight team captains and has been a three-time nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
