Mario Cristobal continues building a strong defensive front at Miami, as the Hurricanes successfully flipped four-star 2025 edge rusher from USC on Wednesday. With His commitment, Miami’s 2025 class now ranks 10th in the nation, and he stands out as the top recruit in this group.
Ranked 189th overall, 17th among edge rushers, and 18th in California, He hails from Oaks Christian in Westlake Village, a respected football program. He becomes the third edge rusher to join Miami’s 2025 class, alongside four-star Herbert Scroggins and three-star Mykah Newton.
In an in-depth conversation with On3, He emphasized that Miami’s prioritization in recruiting and the opportunity to work with defensive line coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor were key reasons for his decision. This marks the fourth consecutive top-10 edge rusher commit for Miami.
Miami has a strong record of developing edge rushers, exemplified by Rueben Bain, the 2023 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year and a projected top-10 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Lowe’s commitment brings Miami’s 2025 class to 23 players, with 11 on offense and 12 on defense.
Under Cristobal, Miami has shown a readiness to give freshmen significant roles, particularly on the defensive line. Rueben Bain is a standout example, and freshman cornerback O.J. Frederique has made an impact in a Miami secondary that has had challenges in 2024.

With edge rushers Elijah Alston and Tyler Baron graduating after the 2024 season, Miami’s young talent—freshmen Armondo Blount, Marquise Lightfoot, and Cole McConathy—will be expected to make strides as sophomores in 2025. Blount, who can also play defensive tackle, adds versatility to the line.
Lowe took his official visit to Miami on the weekend of May 31, having previously visited in March. Cristobal’s staff has been actively flipping recruits late in the year, including running back Jordan Lyle and defensive tackle Justin Scott from Ohio State in November 2023. The Early National Signing Period is scheduled for December 4-6.
