Injuries have hindered JK Dobbins from fully realizing his potential in the NFL. However, his early-season performances have validated the Los Angeles Chargers’ decision to sign him in free agency.

In Week 3, Dobbins had a tough game during the Chargers’ 20-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He rushed for only 44 yards on 15 carries, averaging just 3.1 yards per carry—significantly below his production in the previous two games, where he had surpassed 100 rushing yards and scored a touchdown in each.

Chargers news: J.K. Dobbins runs wild in his debut

Beyond his rushing difficulties, Dobbins caught all three of his targets but gained only 10 yards, providing little impact in the passing game. The Chargers’ running attack struggled as a whole, affecting the team’s overall performance.

Despite this setback, Dobbins remains a crucial player for the Chargers, and his earlier successes show he has the potential to bounce back. Fantasy managers will be closely watching his progress, hoping he returns to the form he displayed in the first two weeks. With adjustments and persistence, he can still be a valuable asset going forward.

The Reason Why Los Angeles Chargers JK Dobbins’s Free Agency Signing Was a Huge Steal

Despite not matching his Week 1 and 2 performances, Dobbins has still been a key addition for the Chargers this season. David Kenyon provided further insight in his NFL analysis for Bleacher Report.

“Dobbins signed a one-year, $1.6 million deal to rebuild his reputation. So far, through two games, he’s achieved just that.

As of Week 3, he leads the NFL with 266 rushing yards, averaging 9.9 yards per carry. He’s gained at least 130 yards and scored a touchdown in both of the Chargers’ victories.

Considering his injury history, Dobbins’ health will remain a major storyline this season. But the upside of this low-risk deal is evident,” Kenyon noted.

After battling injuries over the past three seasons, Dobbins is making a notable comeback with the Chargers. Following an impressive rookie season with the Ravens, he suffered a torn ACL and other setbacks. Now, he’s leading the league in rushing, accumulating 266 yards and two touchdowns in the first two games.

Looking ahead to Week 4, Dobbins faces a tough challenge against the Chiefs’ defense. How he rebounds will be critical not just for his own performance, but also for the Chargers’ success.
