BREAKING NEWS: Las Vegas Raiders To Imminently Trade For Tampa Bay Buccaneers Superstar In Blockbuster Deal

The Las Vegas Raiders’ offense continues to struggle, largely due to subpar quarterback performance. The team plans to be aggressive in searching for a new quarterback in the offseason but must ensure this new addition has the right support to succeed.

After trading Davante Adams, the Raiders now face a significant gap in their receiving group. Strengthening the wide receiver position will be critical, possibly leading the team to pursue a high-caliber veteran. Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report suggests that Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ wide receiver could be an ideal target.

“The decision to trade Davante Adams was likely the right move for the Raiders, but it left a huge void in their offense,” Ballentine noted in an October 28 article. “Replacing Adams requires more than just one player, but whoever takes on the quarterback role for the Raiders next season will need support, ideally from an experienced veteran.

“Chris Godwin’s future in Tampa Bay is uncertain, especially after an ankle injury ended his season. Despite a strong start, he’ll be 29 and looking for a new contract this offseason. Godwin could be the perfect fit to stabilize the Raiders’ receiving group and help lead their offense alongside a new quarterback.”

Raiders Can’t Pay Too Much for Chris Godwin

Godwin was having a strong season until a season-ending ankle injury sidelined him. Over seven games, he recorded 576 receiving yards and five touchdowns. However, this marks his second season-ending injury since 2021.

At nearly 29, Godwin remains a skilled player and has shown he can recover well from injuries. Yet, with the recent setback, it’s hard to see any team outside of Tampa Bay offering him a large contract.

The Raiders should prioritize younger talent and avoid overpaying for an older receiver. Still, if he’s affordable, Godwin could be a good fit. A veteran receiver who can get open would be valuable for a young quarterback, and if he’s available for around $10 million a year, he might be worth considering for the Raiders.

Raiders Could Go After WRs in Draft

Jakobi Meyers is currently the Raiders’ top wide receiver and remains under contract through next season. Beyond him, the team lacks depth at the position. Tre Tucker has shown potential, though he seems better suited as a No. 3 receiver.

While Meyers could be effective as a No. 1, he might excel more in a No. 2 role. The Raiders are likely to seek a true star wide receiver in the future. In the 2025 NFL Draft, the team may prioritize boosting their offense.

Quarterback remains the top priority, but wide receiver is also a significant need. If the Raiders don’t need to trade up for a quarterback, they’ll have plenty of draft capital to work with. Though the defense requires attention, the offense is struggling significantly, so general manager Tom Telesco may focus early draft picks on wide receiver, offensive line, and running back after securing a quarterback.
