The Los Angeles Chargers are in talks to re-sign linebacker after his standout season.

He previously played for Oregon, had a career-high 57 tackles, 1.5 sacks, eight tackles, and a pass breakup during the regular season and playoffs with the Chargers last year.

The 29-year-old linebacker signed a one-year, nearly $1.8 million contract with the Chargers last offseason. He is one of 26 unrestricted free agents for the team this year. Both coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Horitz have expressed a desire to retain as many of their free agents as possible.

Horitz noted that while no re-signing could be called “close” as of Tuesday, the team is actively engaged in conversations with all of their free agents. A league source confirmed the discussions about Dye’s return for his sixth season in 2025.

“I’m with coach, I loved our group of guys last year,” Horitz said at the NFL combine. “It was a special team. It was great to be a part of, and you could feel it out there. It was a lot of fun, and yeah, ideally we’d love to bring them all back. Is that realistic? I don’t know if it is. Coach doesn’t know if it is, but we’re gonna try.”
