A year ago, He was thrilled to have reached the NFL. Now, he’s on the move. On Tuesday, the Seahawks traded their backup offensive tackle and a 2024 late-round draft pick to the Atlanta Falcons, instead of waiving him ahead of the league’s 1 p.m. roster-cut deadline.

In return, Seattle will receive a conditional seventh-round pick, contingent on Jerrell logging a certain number of snaps and games for Atlanta. The trade was first reported by NFL Media.
Jerrell, a sixth-round pick in 2024 out of Division-II Findlay, is familiar to the Falcons, as he made his first NFL start in Atlanta last October.

He started three games as a rookie while regular starter Abe Lucas recovered from offseason knee surgery.
However, that was under a different blocking system, with a different line coach and coordinator. This year, coach Mike Macdonald brought in coordinator Klint Kubiak and O-line coach John Benton to implement a new outside-zone blocking scheme—one Jerrell wasn’t drafted for.

During training camp, Jerrell served as a deep reserve at both left and right tackle. The Seahawks also added a veteran swing tackle for depth. Meanwhile, Josh Jones impressed in preseason filling in at left tackle while Charles Cross recovered from finger surgery, performing well alongside rookie left guard Grey Zabel. With Jones emerging, Jerrell’s role in Seattle became limited.
