Could the Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in a similar situation as last year? Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that the San Francisco 49ers are still looking to trade wide receiver, and once again, the Steelers are in need of help at the position.

His season was cut short by a torn ACL after signing a contract worth over $30 million per year. His contentious “hold-in” the previous year reportedly frustrated many within the 49ers organization, keeping trade rumors alive.

“The 49ers would love to send His contract to the Steelers,” Florio stated on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh.

Despite already committing $33 million annually to DK Metcalf, the Steelers were deeply involved in previous trade talks for Aiyuk. However, after signing his extension with San Francisco, Aiyuk underperformed and suffered a season-ending injury.

Still, at 27, Aiyuk was a Pro Bowler before the injury, and Pittsburgh had aggressively pursued him before he ultimately re-signed with the 49ers. Now, with a need for another top receiver alongside Metcalf, Aiyuk remains a costly but intriguing option.
