The Eagles’ head coach is set to sign a new contract soon—what might it look like?

Nick Sirianni is entering the final season of his five-year deal with the Eagles, originally signed in 2021. However, he isn’t worried about his contract status, nor does he need to be.

As the head coach of the reigning Super Bowl champions and a two-time NFC winner in four seasons, Sirianni has built an impressive résumé. While there have been some bumps along the way, his track record speaks for itself, making his contract situation a mere formality.

Speaking at the NFL Owners’ Meetings in Palm Beach, Florida, Sirianni addressed the topic:

“These things will take care of themselves,” he said. “I’m not too concerned about it. I don’t really get into contracts with anybody. I’m not going to get into it on this one. It will take care of itself.”

Eagles chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie echoed that sentiment, all but confirming that Sirianni’s extension is imminent.

“I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough that Nick will be our coach going forward, and he’s done an outstanding job,” Lurie said Wednesday. “Everything I had hoped for in Nick, he embodies—whether it’s connection, football intelligence, emotional intelligence, managing people, hiring assistants, or maintaining a growth mindset. Identifying Nick as our head coach has proven to be a great decision.”

At this point, the only remaining details to finalize are the terms of his next contract.

Sirianni’s current deal reportedly pays him $7 million per year, a mid-tier salary among NFL head coaches. However, his accomplishments place him among the league’s elite. Over the past four seasons, only Andy Reid’s Chiefs (52) have won more regular-season games than Sirianni’s 48. Add in six playoff wins and a Super Bowl title (plus another appearance), and his track record is among the best in the league.

Entering the 2025 season, the highest-paid NFL coaches per year, according to Front Office Sports, are:

  • Andy Reid: $20 million
  • Sean Payton (Broncos): $18 million
  • Mike Tomlin (Steelers): $16 million
  • Jim Harbaugh (Chargers): $16 million
  • Sean McVay (Rams): $15 million
  • Kyle Shanahan (49ers): $14 million
  • Kevin O’Connell (Vikings): $13 million
  • Ben Johnson (Bears): $13 million
  • John Harbaugh (Ravens): $12 million
  • Liam Cohen (Jaguars): $12 million

Had the Eagles extended Sirianni last season, they might have gotten a bargain. But as Fat Joe famously said, “Yesterday’s price is not today’s price.”

Given his accomplishments, Sirianni should be compensated as a top-tier coach. He already matches the Super Bowl résumé of Payton, Tomlin, and John Harbaugh. Offering him anything outside the top five would be an insult to the most successful coach in Eagles history.

A deal in the range of $20 million per year—on par with Reid or slightly below—seems reasonable. As for the length, a five-year extension makes sense, rewarding Sirianni for turning things around after a near-dismissal last offseason and leading the team to a championship.

It’s not a matter of if but when, and when that time comes, the key questions will be: for how much, and for how long?
