The Detroit Lions made two roster moves on Thursday, signing Allen Robinson to the 53-man roster and adding a LB to the practice squad.
On Thursday, the Detroit Lions made two roster adjustments ahead of their Week 4 preparations. They signed veteran wide receiver Allen Robinson to the active roster and brought linebacker Abraham Beauplan onto the practice squad.
Earlier this week, the Lions placed Derrick Barnes and Marcus Davenport on injured reserve and signed wide receiver Tim Patrick, which left an open roster spot, now filled by Robinson.

Robinson initially joined the Lions’ practice squad following roster cuts, as the team sought additional depth at wide receiver, particularly for the WR-X position. After a brief acclimation period, he was elevated to the active roster for the Lions’ Week 3 game against the Cardinals, though he only played one snap.
Despite reduced snaps for the entire receiver group in recent games, there are upcoming matchups where having deeper receiver options will be important. Robinson, a seasoned 11-year veteran, is known for his reliability, both on and off the field. He’s also praised for his run-blocking skills, and the Lions have had their eye on him for a while.

“Allen Robinson was someone we wanted to bring in during free agency a couple of years ago,” said Lions general manager Brad Holmes. “He’s a Detroit native, but that’s not why he’s here. He’s a player we know can contribute. Now it’s just about getting him fully acclimated, and that could take one, two, or even three weeks. But it’s reassuring to have a player of his caliber and character who fits well with our culture.”
As for Beauplan, he joined the team during training camp and impressed during the preseason. Although many expected him to make the practice squad initially, the Lions prioritized other positions after keeping seven linebackers on their active roster. With Barnes on injured reserve, Beauplan now re-joins the team to bolster depth at linebacker.
