The Washington Commanders head into the 2025 NFL Draft as a legitimate contender with few glaring needs on their roster. While they could still look to strengthen their offensive or defensive lines, overall, this team appears built to make a Super Bowl run—even if it means shaking things up with a few trades involving current starters.
According to Heavy.com‘s Tony Adame, one possible move could involve trading running back, to the Cleveland Browns, especially in a draft class that’s deep at the running back position.
Adame points out that the Browns are in a tough financial spot and still lack a clear starting quarterback.
“Mired in financial purgatory for the next 2 years as they try to get clear of the worst contract in NFL history and without a starting quarterback,” he wrote. “The Browns also hold the No. 2 overall pick in a draft class without a surefire franchise QB like we saw in 2024.”
While Robinson has yet to hit 1,000 rushing yards in a season, he’s posted over 700 yards in each of his first three years—offering the kind of reliability Cleveland could use. Washington, on the other hand, leans more on the passing game and may not need a back like Robinson as much.
“If there’s any team willing to take a shot on a dependable back via trade, it’s the Browns,” Adame said. “With that in mind, the Commanders would be wise to see if Cleveland is interested in Brian Robinson Jr.”
Though no deal has been made yet, this is a potential trade to keep an eye on.
