The Chicago White Sox have signed former Los Angeles Dodgers infielder to a minor league contract, which includes an invitation to spring training.

Lipcius and the Dodgers parted ways after just one year together. During the 2024 season, he played exclusively for Triple-A Oklahoma City, following a trade from the Detroit Tigers. Lipcius delivered a solid performance, posting a .271/.351/.458 slash line across 140 games, with 25 home runs, 89 RBIs, and 145 strikeouts. Despite his strong numbers, he never received a call-up to the Dodgers, even though fans often advocated for him to get a chance in the majors.

This move brings Lipcius back to the AL Central, where he spent a significant portion of his career. Drafted by the Tigers in the third round of the 2019 draft, the Tennessee native made his MLB debut with Detroit late in the 2023 season, recording a .286/.342/.400 line over 13 games. However, after being removed from the Tigers’ 40-man roster last winter, he was traded to the Dodgers and outrighted just before Opening Day.

Though Lipcius has limited MLB experience, he represents a solid depth option for the White Sox. Across more than 1,200 Triple-A plate appearances, he has compiled an impressive .276/.360/.444 slash line. While his power numbers in 2024 were likely inflated by playing in the Pacific Coast League, he showcases strong strike zone discipline.

Defensively, Lipcius brings versatility. Although he primarily played third base during his college years at the University of Tennessee and early in his professional career, he spent most of 2024 at first base for Oklahoma City, with additional experience at second base.
