Sometimes a transaction takes longer to finalize than expected, even if the initial step was reported well in advance. That’s exactly what’s happened with the LA Chargers and tight end.
The Chargers placed an exclusive rights tender on Him back in early March, before free agency began. While many assumed that would wrap up His offseason dealings, that wasn’t the case. It took a while before He officially signed the tender.
He finally did so on Monday, which now allows him to join the team’s offseason program leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft. Without signing the tender, Fisk wouldn’t have been eligible to participate.

It’s uncertain why there was any delay in the process, given that Fisk had no other options to consider. As an exclusive rights free agent, he was always going to stay with the Chargers—there was never a possibility for him to explore other teams.
The most plausible reason is that the delay was purely administrative. With no other outcome possible, Fisk signing his tender at the last minute was likely just a matter of sorting out paperwork.
Fisk is back with the Chargers after joining them last season. While he brings depth to the roster as a rotational tight end, fans aren’t hoping he becomes a major contributor on offense. If he does, it could indicate the Chargers miscalculated their offseason strategy.
He’s more suited to be a fourth-string tight end—someone who contributes on special teams and can step in on offense if injuries occur. Currently, he’s the third tight end on the depth chart, but that could change if the Chargers select a tight end in the draft.
The tender keeps Fisk with the team for another year at a salary of $1.03 million, none of which is guaranteed. That means the Chargers could release him during training camp without any cap penalty for 2025.
If he remains on the roster through the 2025 season, Fisk will become a restricted free agent. The Chargers will still have control over his future, so if he proves to be a valuable asset, they can easily retain him.
