Breaking News: Braves officially claim top star after Daysbel Hernandez’s injury

The Atlanta Braves have reportedly picked up catcher Chuckie Robinson off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to David O’Brien of The Athletic. Robinson has been assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett.

To clear a 40-man roster spot, pitcher Daysbel Hernandez was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

Robinson, 30, debuted in the majors with the Cincinnati Reds in 2022 and has since spent time with the Chicago White Sox and Dodgers. Across 52 career games, he owns a -4 wRC+, highlighting his limited offensive production. While he’s fared somewhat better in the minors, his results there have been average.

Still, with options remaining, Robinson provides the Braves with organizational catching depth heading into next season. Originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 21st round of the 2016 draft, he now joins Atlanta’s system.

Hernandez had previously been placed on the 15-day IL on September 12.
