The Auburn Tigers have lost a commitment from a defensive back to a rising SEC rival.
As expected, Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class saw a reduction with Dante Core switching his commitment from Auburn to Ole Miss. This change brings Auburn’s commitment count down to 26.
Previously ranked as Rivals’ #59 cornerback, Core committed to Auburn on May 18 but was in Oxford to witness Ole Miss’s recent victory over Georgia, which may have influenced his decision to join Lane Kiffin’s program.

During an interview with Inside The Rebels, Core shared his thoughts on Ole Miss: “I love the culture at Ole Miss,” he told David Johnson. “I appreciate the way they organize their program, the scheme, and the sense of belonging among everyone at Ole Miss. I want to be a part of that.”
He added, “I’m really excited about becoming an Ole Miss Rebel. It feels like a relief to be done with recruiting. I’m thrilled.”
Core, from Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, was one of Auburn’s two Florida recruits. The only remaining one now is Elijah Melendez, a linebacker from Kissimmee’s Osceola High. Auburn’s ranking remains steady at fifth in Rivals’ team rankings, despite Core’s flip to Ole Miss.
