Head coach Kevin O’Connell and the Minnesota Vikings are set to host their rookie minicamp from May 9 to May 11, with quarterback Zach Zebrowski taking the reins as he aims to secure a roster spot by showcasing his skills.
Zebrowski was a two-year starting quarterback at the University of Central Missouri.
A dual-threat QB standing 6-foot-2 and weighing just over 200 pounds, Zebrowski produced eye-popping stats throughout his college career. Despite playing at two smaller programs, he earned high praise—CBS Sports analyst Emory Hunt even ranked him as the top quarterback in a small college mock draft.

“Zebrowski is a two-time Harlon Hill Trophy winner—the Division II version of the Heisman—after an outstanding run at Central Missouri,” Hunt wrote in April. “He’s one of the top quarterbacks in this draft class at any level, and without question the best small-school QB in the country.”

During his time with the Mules, Zebrowski completed 68.3% of his passes, amassing 9,881 yards, 101 touchdowns, and just 17 interceptions—including an impressive 61 touchdown passes in 2023 alone.
“Best 2 years of my life!” Zebrowski wrote on X in December. “Go Mules [heart hands emoji].”
Vikings Minicamp QB Zach Zebrowski Has Local Ties

In 2022, Zebrowski recorded a stat line of 32-1-0 with a 4-for-5 passing performance for Southern Illinois. He was the sole quarterback to throw at the Kansas City Chiefs’ local prospect day in April. According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, Zebrowski is a “high IQ” player who impressed with a “standout throwing session.”

Taking part in the Vikings’ minicamp marks a full-circle moment for Zebrowski, who turns 24 in June.
His father, Jim Zebrowski, currently serves as the co-offensive coordinator for the Kansas Jayhawks. Prior to that, he was the quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Golden Gophers from 2011 to 2015. The younger Zebrowski, born in Decatur, Illinois, went to East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minnesota.
As a senior in 2018, he was named Conference Player of the Year and earned First-Team All-Conference honors, setting the school’s single-season record for assists. He also excelled in basketball, earning All-Suburban East Conference recognition.
Zach Zebrowski Faces Uphill Battle for Roster Spot
Zebrowski enters a now-crowded Vikings quarterback room that includes 2024 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy, 2022 fifth-rounder Kenny Pickett (acquired from the Commanders), and veteran journeyman Brett Rypien, an undrafted free agent.

During rookie minicamp, Zebrowski’s main competition will be former Minnesota Gophers quarterback Max Brosmer.
Both Zebrowski and Brosmer appeared on NFL.com analyst Chad Reuter’s top undrafted free agents list — Brosmer came in at No. 2, while Zebrowski landed at No. 12. Brosmer also signed a relatively generous deal with the Vikings after the draft. Even if Zebrowski outperforms him in minicamp, earning a roster spot will still be a challenge.
McCarthy is expected to start as QB1, and the Vikings also added Sam Howell via trade this offseason. Rypien, who re-signed with the team in free agency, appears to be the most likely candidate to fill out the depth chart.
