Rafael Devers is predicting a highly successful 2025 season for both himself and the Red Sox.
The 2024 campaign was challenging for both Devers and Boston. While the star third baseman earned his third career All-Star selection, he battled nagging shoulder issues throughout the year. The Red Sox improved from consecutive 78-win seasons but still fell short of the postseason with just 81 victories.
However, optimism is running high in Boston after Craig Breslow and the front office made significant offseason upgrades. Devers, who spent the winter focusing on getting fully healthy, has high expectations for the team.

“(Fans) can expect a better year than last year from me,” Devers told reporters Thursday, per The Athletic. “They can expect a lot from this team overall. We have a really good team, and I think the fans can expect us to compete for a World Series this year.”
Oddsmakers share some of that confidence. Despite making the playoffs just once in the past six years, the Red Sox currently hold the eighth-shortest odds at FanDuel Sportsbook to win the 2025 World Series.
Of course, success isn’t determined on paper. Now that the front office has strengthened the roster, it’s up to Devers and his teammates to deliver on the field.
