The Philadelphia Phillies shared encouraging news about outfielder Brandon Marsh, who is currently on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring strain.
Marsh, a fan favorite known for his blazing speed, long hair, and beard, is eligible to return from the IL this Sunday.
While his health remains the top priority, his rehab assignment in Lehigh Valley will also give him a chance to work on his swing. The 27-year-old isn’t typically known for his offense, but he’s struggled mightily in 2025, hitting just .095 with a .387 OPS and 11 OPS+. He has only one extra-base hit—a home run—no stolen bases, and a 16-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Once back, Marsh is expected to see time against right-handed pitching, but Johan Rojas is making a strong case for more playing time in center field.
Rojas, also a stellar defender, has impressed at the plate so far. In 41 at-bats, he’s hitting .317 with a .729 OPS and a 106 OPS+. While he’s not a power hitter and the sample size is small, he’s putting pressure on manager Rob Thomson to keep him in the lineup.
The Phillies will likely continue platooning the lefty Marsh and righty Rojas, but if Marsh’s offensive struggles continue, Rojas may end up taking over center field full-time.
For now, here’s hoping Marsh has a smooth and quick rehab process.
