Breaking: Former Raiders Star Receives 30-Year Prison Sentence

In 2021, the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Kevin Ware Jr. after he fled following the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend, Taylor Pomaski.

Pomaski was last seen at a house party she hosted on April 25, 2021, and her family reported her missing in May. At the time, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said her disappearance appeared highly suspicious and possibly involved foul play.

Witnesses claimed the couple had a violent altercation at Ware’s home in Klein, Texas, during a gathering. After that night, Pomaski vanished, and Ware began skipping court appearances.

Eric Zuleger, a longtime friend of Pomaski, told ABC13 that she had previously voiced concerns about her safety, saying she was scared, in danger, and had experienced violence, including having a gun pulled on her.

In December 2021, her remains were discovered discarded in a ditch in Harris County.

Now, in 2025, Ware has been held accountable. He accepted a plea deal on Wednesday and was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of 29-year-old Pomaski. According to court records, Ware stabbed her, struck her with a blunt object, strangled her, and then set her body on fire.

Pomaski’s former boyfriend stated she had been in an abusive and toxic relationship at the time of her disappearance. Her family is expected to deliver victim impact statements on Monday.

Kevin Ware, who previously played football at Klein Oak High School and the University of Washington, went undrafted in 2003 but signed with the Washington Redskins that same year. He appeared in 11 games before being released in 2004, later joining the San Francisco 49ers for five games. He also signed with the Oakland Raiders, though he never played in a game for them.
