The Colts’ practice squad is beginning to take shape, featuring several key players re-signed after being cut from the final 53-man roster.
On Wednesday, the Indianapolis Colts announced the addition of 11 players to their practice squad:
– LB Austin Ajiake
– LB Liam Anderson
– DE Genard Avery
– QB Jason Bean
– S Marcel Dabo (via International Pathway)
– RB Evan Hull
– CB Chris Lammons
– WR D.J. Montgomery
– CB Jaylin Simpson
– CB Ameer Speed
– WR Laquon Treadwell
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero also reported earlier on Wednesday that the Colts are signing nose tackle McTelvin Agim to their practice squad. Agim, a 2020 third-round pick by the Denver Broncos, spent some time on the Colts’ taxi squad during the 2022-23 season.

The Colts can have up to 16 players on their practice squad (or 17 with the NFL International Pathway exemption), but 10 of those must be rookies or second-year players. The final spots on the Colts’ practice squad remain flexible as other NFL teams make adjustments to their rosters.
Notably, rookie sixth-round pick Micah Abraham has not been re-signed to the practice squad, despite showing potential in the preseason. Abraham, who has NFL connections through his father, might be exploring opportunities with other teams to kickstart his professional career.
In contrast, Jaylin Simpson, a versatile rookie fifth-round defensive back, made it back onto the Colts’ practice squad after being released from the final 53-man roster.
Among the new additions, quarterback Jason Bean stands out as a noteworthy name after a strong preseason performance that likely secured his spot. Meanwhile, veteran wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, a former first-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2016, also made the practice squad, indicating he was more than just a veteran presence in training camp.
Additionally, running back Evan Hull, a 2023 fifth-round pick who missed most of his rookie season, provides added depth at his position and showed promise in camp and preseason. Chris Lammons, on the other hand, remains a potential slot corner and special teams contributor if elevated during the 2024 season.
