The St. Louis Cardinals had a mixed night on Monday, highlighted by Nolan Arenado’s return but clouded by an injury to Willson Contreras.
Arenado rejoined the lineup after being sidelined since July 30 with a shoulder injury and immediately made an impact, going 2-for-4 with an RBI to help steady the offense. Yet his comeback was overshadowed when Contreras exited due to tightness in his right biceps.

Team doctors evaluated Contreras, and according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the move to pull him was precautionary.
The Cardinals later confirmed the catcher left because of discomfort, with Nolan Gorman stepping in to pinch-hit.
Afterward, Contreras admitted the situation will need to be monitored closely. With injuries already a recurring challenge this season, his status adds another layer of uncertainty as the Cardinals chase a postseason berth.
Given Contreras’ importance to the lineup, fans will be awaiting updates on the $87 million catcher, hoping for a quick recovery to keep their playoff hopes intact.
