With training camp approaching in less than a month, the Bruins have yet to sign Jeremy Swayman, which has caused some concern among fans. However, there is strong confidence that a deal will be reached. Team president Cam Neely recently reassured that a long-term contract will be finalized, though he acknowledged that negotiations can be challenging.

“Something will get done, no doubt,” Neely stated during an appearance on “The Rich Shertenlieb Show.” “Not every negotiation is as smooth as you’d hope. I know our fans would prefer this to be settled by now, but I’m fully confident that both sides will agree soon.”

Swayman established himself as Boston’s top goalie during the regular season and especially in the playoffs, where he played in all but one game before the Bruins were eliminated in the second round by the Florida Panthers. He ended the regular season with a 25-10-8 record, a 2.53 goals-against average, and a .916 save percentage.

Boston had one of the NHL’s best goalie tandems with Swayman and Linus Ullmark. However, after Ullmark was traded to the Ottawa Senators this summer, the Bruins essentially placed their full trust in Swayman to be their number one goalie moving forward.

“Jeremy is incredibly focused and determined,” Neely said. “He has a lot of confidence in himself… We decided to go with Jeremy. Linus contributed so much to the organization on and off the ice, and he’s a great person. But we didn’t see ourselves re-signing him after the 2024-25 season, so it made sense to move him.”

As a restricted free agent, Swayman could receive an offer sheet from another team, but any interested team would likely have to offer at least $9 million and several draft picks.

While it’s a quiet time in the offseason, securing Swayman long-term has always been a priority for the Bruins. Now, it’s just a matter of time before the deal is finalized.
