The Denver Broncos were one of the biggest surprises in the NFL during the 2024 season, thanks in large part to rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who led the team to a playoff berth.

Although their season ended with a 31-7 Wild Card loss to the Buffalo Bills, the year was still a major success, setting the stage for increased expectations heading into 2025.

Looking ahead, there’s plenty of optimism surrounding the Broncos. Some believe the team could consider a bold move to further boost their playoff hopes—such as trading for a top-tier wide receiver.

One such possibility, as suggested by Fox Sports, involves acquiring Washington Commanders star Terry McLaurin.

NFL reporter sheds light on potential Terry McLaurin contract cost, likelihood of extension with Washingon Commanders

“McLaurin would be a strong fit in Denver’s receiving corps and reduce the pressure on the team’s younger receivers to develop quickly,” they noted. “If Nix experiences a sophomore slump, like Dak Prescott in 2017 or C.J. Stroud in 2024, adding a proven pass-catcher could help maintain offensive consistency. McLaurin is a reliable, durable downfield threat who commands defensive attention.”

In 2024, McLaurin caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns with Washington.

A move like this could elevate Denver’s offense to elite status. With Courtland Sutton currently the team’s top receiver, pairing him with McLaurin would form a dynamic duo that could challenge any defense. Depth options like Marvin Mims Jr., Troy Franklin, and Devaughn Vele would round out a strong receiving group.

Supporting a young quarterback with experienced weapons is smart team-building. Nix flashed star potential as a rookie, throwing for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, while adding 430 rushing yards and four scores.

While just a hypothetical for now, McLaurin could be the ideal addition to help Nix make an even bigger leap in Year 2.
