“The Angels have made yet another roster change.”

The Los Angeles Angels have added relief pitcher Brock Burke to their major league roster, while sending Kenny Rosenberg down to Triple-A Salt Lake, according to the Angels PR.

Burke and Nick Robertson were both claimed off waivers by the Angels on Tuesday. Before this, Burke had spent his entire major league career with the Texas Rangers.

Originally selected in the third round of the 2014 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays, Burke spent four years in the Rays’ minor league system before being traded to the Rangers in December 2018.

In his last outing with the Rangers this season, Burke allowed four earned runs in 1.1 innings against the New York Yankees, which led to the Rangers designating him for assignment.

Earlier this season, Burke had also been sidelined with a fractured hand after punching a wall in frustration over a poor performance. He underwent surgery for the injury but was able to return to action two months later.

The 28-year-old has also pitched in 16 games for the Rangers’ Triple-A team this season, posting a 5.31 ERA with 17 strikeouts.

As Burke gets another opportunity with the Angels, Rosenberg has been optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Rosenberg, in his third year with the Angels, has appeared in just four games this season, recording a 0-1 record with a 6.87 ERA and 12 strikeouts over 18.1 innings. In two of those games, he particularly struggled, allowing six earned runs in each.

Overall, Rosenberg has appeared in 14 major league games, including five starts, with a combined 2-3 record, a 4.79 ERA, and 49 strikeouts.

Like Burke, Rosenberg was originally drafted by the Rays and began his career in their minor league system. He was an eighth-round pick in the 2016 MLB Draft and joined the Angels in December 2021.

This season, Rosenberg has also made 16 starts in the minors with Triple-A Salt Lake, where he has gone 5-6 with a 4.39 ERA and 74 strikeouts.
