Alabama has added another tight end via the transfer portal, landing Brody Dalton from Troy University. This marks the second straight day the Crimson Tide has brought in a tight end, following the recent commitment of West Virginia transfer Jack Sammarco.
Dalton, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound redshirt senior from Fyffe, Alabama, began his college football career at UAB in 2021 before transferring to Troy in 2023. Last season, he tallied 15 catches for 188 yards and three touchdowns. According to Pro Football Focus, Dalton was sure-handed, dropping none of the 18 passes thrown his way, and earned a 58.4 grade for run blocking. He primarily lined up as an in-line tight end, accounting for 378 of his 548 total snaps.

His arrival helps fill a major need for Alabama, which struggled with tight end depth during spring practice due to injuries to Josh Cuevas, Danny Lewis Jr., and Marshall Pritchett. With Jay Lindsey being the only scholarship tight end available by the end of spring camp, Dalton is expected to bring immediate competition and depth, especially in the in-line role.
Dalton visited Alabama on Thursday and committed later that evening, choosing the Tide over North Carolina. He has one year of eligibility left and is projected to contribute as both a blocker and a dependable pass catcher.
With both Dalton and Sammarco now on board, Alabama has significantly strengthened its tight end group heading into the upcoming season.
