Tyler Warren may not have made many highlight plays against Ohio State, but J.T. Tuimoloau remembers their battles—one No. 44 facing another.

“I love how he plays,” Tuimoloau said of his former college rival, now NFL teammate. “He’s a tough, physical athlete. He doesn’t say much, but he lets his actions speak—through his hands, his pads, and his athleticism.”

“He’s like a silent assassin out there. A Swiss army knife. He’s got so many tools to work with. You’re not just getting a tight end—you’re getting a whole lot more in one player.”

When will Penn State's Tyler Warren make his NFL debut for the Indianapolis Colts?

That’s high praise from the Colts’ second-round pick.

While Warren has yet to suit up in full NFL gear, he impressed throughout spring practices, showing exactly why the Colts targeted him in the draft.

Offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter was especially intrigued by how creatively Penn State used Warren.

“They did some really innovative stuff with him on offense,” Cooter said. “Watching him line up in various spots, move around, and handle so many responsibilities was impressive. Most tight ends have tapes for catching, blocking, or protecting. With Tyler, we also have film of him running the ball—and even throwing it a bit. That kind of versatility is rare.”

Tyler Warren, Penn State, Tight End

Warren’s ability to do a bit of everything is what makes him stand out.

At Penn State, he averaged a remarkable 8 yards per carry—a number the Colts are eager to put to use this season.

“That jumped out right away,” said Colts tight ends coach Tom Manning. “He’s a natural with the ball in his hands—shifty, tough to bring down, and always finds extra yards. That’s not something you can always teach. It’s a gift.”

It’s that blend of toughness and instinctive ball-carrying that made Warren such an attractive prospect for Indianapolis.
