Alabama softball has landed its second transfer portal addition of the offseason in Brooke Wells, a former two-way player at Houston. Wells announced her commitment on Saturday, joining fellow transfer Jenna Young, an infielder from Iowa who committed earlier in the week.
Wells played just one season at Houston in 2025, where she posted a .341 batting average, hit 10 home runs, and drove in 47 runs as a freshman. Her time on the mound included nine appearances (four starts), during which she posted a 4.91 ERA over 15.2 innings with one save. Overall, she played in 47 games for a Houston team that finished 22-25, including a tough 4-18 record in Big 12 play. After the season, Houston opted not to renew head coach Kristin Vesely’s contract.

Alabama, meanwhile, is seeing roster turnover. Infielder Kennedy Marceaux is transferring to Louisiana to play for Alyson Habetz, and starters Kali Heivilin and Brooke Ellestad have departed due to eligibility expiration.
Wells and Young each arrive in Tuscaloosa with multiple years of eligibility remaining. Wells brings more power to the table, while Young totaled seven home runs across two seasons at Iowa. From last year’s transfer class, pitchers Catelyn Riley and Emily Winstead are both out of eligibility. Riley also contributed offensively with three home runs, though her primary impact came in the circle.
Wells is expected to contribute mainly with her bat, providing pop to the Crimson Tide lineup, and she may also help defensively in an infield that has multiple openings.
