Five-star linebacker Xavier Griffin remains one of Alabama’s top priorities in the 2026 recruiting class. After wrapping up an official visit to Tuscaloosa last weekend, momentum has been building around the Crimson Tide landing him—especially since he decommitted from USC.
Still, Griffin has yet to make a decision. This weekend, he’s heading to Texas for another official visit, with the Longhorns and Ohio State seen as the Tide’s main competition in his recruitment.
A recent Instagram story from Griffin has only fueled optimism among Alabama fans. The post featured him in an Alabama uniform and highlighted a report suggesting the Crimson Tide are trending for four 5-star players in the 2026 cycle—Griffin included. While his decision is still pending, the post suggests Alabama remains firmly in the mix.

Meanwhile, Alabama fans are eager for the much-anticipated summer recruiting surge. Hints of movement, like a cryptic Hayes Fawcett tweet on Thursday, have teased that commitments are coming. But for now, it’s a waiting game.
This week, Alabama did secure a pledge from 4-star offensive tackle Sam Utu and has received predictions for commitments from 5-star safety Jireh Edwards and 3-star wideout Brian Williams Jr. Still, projections are not guarantees.

Fawcett’s teaser hinted at three upcoming Alabama commitments, though none have been made public yet. Historically, his hints tend to materialize within days.
As of now, Alabama has just six commitments in the 2026 class—a figure that’s sparked concern among fans. But despite the small class size, no program boasts a higher average player rating per recruit. Plus, many elite prospects have the Tide among their finalists.
Two major recruiting weekends remain for Alabama, with the biggest scheduled for June 20. That weekend is expected to feature top in-state talents like 5-stars Cederian Morgan, Anthony “Tank” Jones, and Ezavier Crowell.
So while fan anxiety is understandable, Alabama’s recruiting momentum is real—and it’s only a matter of time before that buzz turns into commitments.
