Russell Wilson’s comeback with his new team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, hit a snag when the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback was slowed down by a calf injury during the preseason training camp. However, Wilson now seems to have fully recovered and is eager to kick off the new season.
Pittsburgh Steelers News: Russell Wilson Is ‘Feeling Great’

After missing the early part of training camp due to injury, Wilson has now rejoined his teammates in practice. The 35-year-old quarterback expressed his excitement to be back on the field, confirming that he’s healthy and ready to participate fully in drills.
“I’m feeling great,” Wilson shared with Teresa Varley from the team’s official site. “It feels amazing to be back in full practice, doing all the drills and team activities. I’ve been involved in drills for the past week or so, but being fully immersed in team drills is fantastic.”
Wilson won’t be playing in the preseason game against the Houston Texans on Friday, but he’s been steadily working on his return and aims to get some reps in before the regular season starts. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback is confident he’ll be ready when the season kicks off.
“I always want to play,” said Wilson. “Every time you put on the pads, it’s a blessing, whether it’s preseason, regular season, or the playoffs. Just being out there with your teammates is what it’s all about.
“The good thing is I get to take it all in, learn, and experience being in Acrisure Stadium for the first time. I can’t wait to wear the black and gold.”
Ultimately, the decision will be up to head coach Mike Tomlin, and Wilson has complete trust in his new coach as he prepares to hit the ground running with his new team.
“I’m ready to play, but it’s up to Coach,” said Wilson. “He’s the one who makes the decisions, but I’ll be prepared.
“There have been times I haven’t played, so this isn’t new to me. I’ve been fortunate to play in about 200 games, so I’m familiar with the speed and rhythm.
“More than anything, going up against another team instead of your own guys every day is just more exciting.
“I’m excited about our team, this season, and what we can achieve.”
