The Braves are hosting the Brewers this week before heading out on a West Coast trip with series against the Giants, Rockies, and Angels, followed by a crucial matchup against the division-leading Phillies back in Atlanta. Fortunately, they expect reinforcements before that potentially pivotal NL East showdown, with Reynaldo López and Michael Harris II set to return.

Braves' Reynaldo Lopez doesn't feel his best, but battles through outing

On Tuesday, Brian Snitker informed reporters that Harris is expected to rejoin the team on August 14 as he begins his rehab assignment tonight. López, who took a step towards returning to the rotation by playing catch today, is anticipated to be back on August 18.

While both López and Harris are All-Star caliber players, one area of the team is in more urgent need of help. The rotation can manage without López for now, but his return ahead of the Phillies series is well-timed. On the other hand, the Braves’ outfield is in dire need of Harris’s presence.

For López, some time off might have been beneficial. He hasn’t thrown more than 66 innings since 2019, and the forearm tightness might be a sign of fatigue. While some regression was expected after his strong first half, the hope is that he’ll be at his best for the stretch run.
