According to multiple reports, former UNLV and Texas State running back Greg Burrell is exploring a potential transfer to Kansas State.
Burrell, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound Las Vegas native, spent last season with UNLV before making a short-lived transfer to Texas State during the offseason. Now, he’s reportedly scheduling a visit to Manhattan, Kansas, to check out the Wildcats.
During his 2024 campaign, Burrell rushed for 366 yards and scored three touchdowns in 12 appearances, sharing snaps in a crowded UNLV backfield. His top performance came against Utah Tech, where he posted 101 yards on just 11 carries.
Known for his acceleration and physical running style, Burrell showed flashes of big-play ability, even with limited touches. Coming out of high school, he was a three-star recruit and ranked the No. 2 running back in Nevada. He committed to UNLV over several offers from Mountain West and Pac-12 programs.

A potential addition like Burrell could help Kansas State reload at running back following the departure of standout D.J. Giddens to the NFL. The Wildcats still have Dylan Edwards and Joe Jackson, but depth is a concern—especially with injury-prone transfer Gabe Ervin Jr. joining from Nebraska and La’James White recently hitting the portal.
Kansas State wrapped up the 2024 season with a 9–4 overall record and a 5–4 mark in Big 12 play. They ended the year on a high note, edging Rutgers 44–41 in their bowl game on December 26.
