Explosive Sophomore Guard Set to Thrive Under Coach Mark Pope in 2025
Good news has rolled into Lexington — Collin Chandler, one of Kentucky’s most promising young guards, has officially announced he’s returning to the Wildcats for his sophomore season.
The high-flying former four-star recruit is staying put as Kentucky transitions into the Mark Pope era. After showing glimpses of his talent and high motor in his freshman year, Chandler now has the chance to take on a more prominent role in the backcourt for Year 2.
“I’m grateful to be back,” Chandler said. “Kentucky has always been special to me. I believe in what Coach Pope is building, and I’m ready to be part of something big.”

At 6-foot-4, Chandler is known for his lightning-quick first step, tenacious defense, and relentless energy on the court — a skillset that fits perfectly into Pope’s vision for a high-tempo, tough-minded Wildcats team. His experience from last season gives him a leg up, especially when it comes to navigating the grind of SEC play.
Coach Pope has emphasized the need for gritty, high-character players who are willing to fight for every possession — and Chandler fits that mold to a tee.
“Collin brings intensity, drive, and a team-first attitude,” said Pope. “He’s the type of guy who sets the tone, and we’re excited about what he can bring in his second year.”
In the midst of a busy offseason filled with transfer movement and roster rebuilding, Chandler’s return brings a sense of consistency and excitement for Big Blue Nation. His decision to stay isn’t just about minutes — it’s about belief in the mission and pride in wearing the Kentucky jersey.
Chandler is back, locked in, and ready to make a serious leap — and BBN is all in with him.
