Saints head coach Dennis Allen recently informed reporters that Haener will be absent from Monday’s practice.

“There’s going to be a procedure on Monday,” Allen said, per Nola.com. “As of now, we expect him to miss practice on Monday. We have an off day on Tuesday, and he should be back in full on Wednesday.”

Haener, who is entering his second NFL season, is competing with rookie QB Spencer Rattler for the backup spot behind Derek Carr.

Haener is optimistic about the upcoming procedure.

“It’s just something I need to take care of, and the organization has been really supportive,” Haener said last week, per Nola.com.

Drafted by the Saints in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Fresno State, Haener didn’t play last season. During his senior year at Fresno State, he threw for over 2,600 yards, with 18 touchdowns and three interceptions.
