One of Auburn’s all-time greats has officially wrapped up his college journey. Johni Broome, a fifth-year senior, is saying goodbye to his teammates, coaches, and the Auburn faithful after an incredible run. This past season, he led the Tigers to the Final Four and helped them earn the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament—an achievement that fans won’t soon forget.

Broome began his career at Morehead State, playing two seasons there before transferring to Auburn, where he spent his final three years.

During that time, he helped keep Auburn consistently ranked in the top 25 and even guided them to the longest No. 1 ranking of any team during the 2024–2025 season. While a national title eluded him, his legacy includes both an SEC regular season championship and an SEC tournament crown.

Johni Broome turned to social media to express his gratitude as he officially closed the chapter on his college basketball career. He thanked his family and friends, but also made a point to acknowledge everyone who played a role in his journey.

He began by expressing appreciation for his time at Morehead State, crediting the program for laying the foundation that allowed him to transfer to a high-level program like Auburn. Once at Auburn, Broome felt the love and support immediately and thanked the fans for creating an electric atmosphere.

“To the fans – thank you for packing The Jungle night after night and making Auburn truly feel like home,” Broome wrote in his farewell message.

His Auburn career concluded in the Final Four with a loss to eventual national champion Florida, but Broome left it all on the court. In his final season, he averaged 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game. His stellar play earned him the Pete Newell Big Man Award, the Karl Malone Award, and a spot on the All-SEC First Team for the second time.

Broome ended his post by officially declaring for the 2025 NBA Draft.

A true Auburn legend, Broome’s impact on the program will be remembered for years to come.
