BREAKING NEWS: Seahawks To Land DK Metcalf Replacement, Additional Help At Receiver

The Seattle Seahawks have overhauled most of their recent passing and receiving production this offseason, parting ways with Geno Smith, DK Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett.

While they quickly secured Sam Darnold as their new quarterback, the team could still use more depth at wide receiver alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba and newly signed Cooper Kupp.

A recent mock draft projects Seattle selecting a potential Metcalf replacement with the 18th overall pick.

Seahawks Select Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan at No. 18 Overall in Recent Mock Draft

Mike Band of NFL.com recently released a mock draft projecting Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan—arguably the top receiver in the class—falling to the Seahawks at No. 18 overall.

Band highlighted Seattle’s offseason moves, noting that Sam Darnold (three years, $100.5 million) replaced Geno Smith, while Cooper Kupp (three years, $45 million) stepped in for DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, leaving Jaxon Smith-Njigba as the only returning starter in the receiving corps. He emphasized that signing Kupp doesn’t eliminate the need for a wide receiver, especially a true “X” target like McMillan.

Some may argue that receiver isn’t Seattle’s biggest need, given Kupp’s arrival. However, the veteran wideout has failed to surpass 850 yards or six touchdowns in each of the past three seasons.

As for the offensive line, interior prospects typically don’t command high draft capital. Band noted that while addressing the trenches remains an option, the team’s primary needs are at guard, and GM John Schneider has historically avoided overspending at that position. Instead, Seattle is more likely to target the O-line with one of its four Day 2 selections.

Over the past four seasons, DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett have combined for more than 600 receptions, 8,500 yards, and 70 touchdowns—a significant chunk of production now missing from Seattle’s roster.

While Lockett’s numbers had started to dip, he remained a reliable contributor. Kupp appears poised to take on a similar role to what Lockett provided last season.

McMillan, on the other hand, would likely step into a role resembling Metcalf’s, operating primarily as an X receiver on the outside. With his imposing frame and strong contested-catch ability, he has the tools to thrive in isolation matchups.
