The Georgia Bulldogs are looking to bolster their defense as key players, including linebacker Jalon Walker and edge rusher Mykel Williams, prepare for the 2025 NFL Draft. While Georgia’s defense remained strong throughout the 2024 season, it struggled at times against mobile quarterbacks and power-running offenses.

After losing Damon Wilson to Missouri and Samuel M’Pemba to Texas A&M, the Bulldogs have turned their attention to the transfer portal, particularly targeting an ACC defender.

According to On3’s Jake Rowe of DawgsHQ, Georgia is eyeing junior linebacker David Bailey from Stanford, who recently entered the portal. Rowe noted on March 28 that Georgia has consistently prioritized EDGE rushers and defensive linemen in the spring transfer portal window.

Bailey became eligible to transfer early due to Stanford’s general manager Andrew Luck dismissing head coach Troy Taylor, triggering a 30-day transfer window for Cardinal players.

Landing Bailey won’t come cheap, as his NIL valuation is estimated at $1.1 million, per On3.

Bailey had an impressive 2024 season, recording 31 tackles (22 solo, 9 assisted), seven sacks, and five forced fumbles. On3 gives him a 97 rating, ranking him as a four-star transfer, a top-10 player in the portal, and the No. 2 EDGE defender available.

With his ability to disrupt quarterbacks and defend against the run, Bailey would fill crucial gaps in Georgia’s defense. His skill set makes him an immediate impact player, strengthening the Bulldogs’ front seven and improving their overall consistency. However, Georgia will face stiff competition from other programs looking to land the talented defender.
