The St. Louis Cardinals entered the offseason with a clear intention to trade star third baseman. Moving him has proven challenging due to the $64 million remaining on his contract, but the Cardinals are reportedly open to covering part of the deal to facilitate a trade.
So far, interest in Him has cooled, with teams like the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, once considered potential suitors, showing less urgency in recent weeks. This has created an opportunity for other teams to re-enter the mix.
According to MLB.com’s John Denton, the Los Angeles Dodgers have once again emerged as a potential landing spot for Arenado after previously showing minimal interest.

“A sticking point in any Arenado deal could come down to how much of the $64 million remaining on Arenado’s contract the Cardinals are willing to absorb,” Denton reported. “Initial trade talks in early January broke down when the Cardinals refused to pay as much as $20 million toward the balance of Arenado’s contract, a source said.
After failing to make much trade progress elsewhere throughout January, the Cardinals reengaged the Red Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers about possible restructured deals for the star third baseman.”
While Los Angeles has yet to make a strong push for Arenado, that stance could change quickly. If the Dodgers were to acquire him, it would further strengthen an already dominant roster, making them an even bigger World Series contender.
Despite being in the later stages of his career, Arenado remains a highly skilled player who could be a valuable addition to any championship-aspiring team.
