BREAKING: North Carolina QB Jacolby Criswell Commits, Flip To Georgia Bulldogs

The most significant uncertainty for Georgia football heading into next season is the quarterback position. Carson Beck transferred to Miami (FL), and Jaden Rashada also entered the transfer portal.

While losing Rashada might not seem as critical, he was expected to compete for the starting role, so his departure does affect the quarterback competition, albeit to a lesser extent.

As a result, Kirby Smart and his coaching staff have been eyeing a few quarterbacks in the transfer portal. Although Georgia hasn’t made significant progress with any potential recruits so far, they have reportedly started pursuing one quarterback from the portal.

North Carolina transfer QB Jacolby Criswell

Jacolby Criswell is a transfer quarterback from North Carolina with an intriguing college career. He spent his first three seasons at UNC before transferring to Arkansas for the 2023 season.

After one year with the Razorbacks, he returned to North Carolina, where he started for the Tar Heels in 2024. During the season, Criswell completed 186 of 320 passes for 2,459 yards, 15 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also ran for 103 yards and three touchdowns.

It’s uncertain how interested Georgia is in Criswell, or whether he’s interested in Georgia, but Coach Smart and his staff have shown some level of interest.

If Criswell transfers to Georgia, he would compete for the starting position next season. While Gunner Stockton and Ryan Puglisi may have the edge in that competition, additional competition would only benefit the team.
