The Boston Red Sox have made notable moves this offseason, including signing Walker Buehler and trading for Garrett Crochet. However, they have yet to address key gaps in their starting lineup.
Earlier in the offseason, Boston missed out on acquiring Juan Soto, who signed with the New York Mets, and recently lost out on Teoscar Hernández, who re-signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Christopher Kline of FanSided recently encouraged the Red Sox to target Houston Astros infielder Alex Bregman, who is reportedly worth $200 million. Although Bregman isn’t an outfielder, he would still provide a significant upgrade to Boston’s roster.

“At 30, Bregman is likely still in his prime. While last season wasn’t his best, he managed 26 home runs, 75 RBIs, and a .768 OPS,” Kline noted. “With two World Series titles and a proven track record in October, it’s easy to see why the Red Sox would be drawn to him. His price tag might climb after Willy Adames’ $182 million deal with San Francisco, but if Boston wants to compete with powerhouses like the Yankees or Dodgers, this kind of investment is essential.
“Beyond his contributions on the field, Bregman brings veteran leadership that could transform Boston’s clubhouse. He knows what it takes to win, and the Red Sox need that kind of presence.”
Adding Bregman would also allow Boston to explore trading first baseman Triston Casas for a valuable return. If the Red Sox are serious about keeping up with the league’s top teams, pursuing Bregman should be a priority.
