The Philadelphia Phillies’ 2024 season ended in disappointment, as they were eliminated in the National League Division Series by the New York Mets. After coming close to a World Series title in both 2022 and 2023, the early playoff exit was a letdown for the team and its fans.

Heading into the offseason, the Phillies are expected to make strategic moves to secure their third World Series title in franchise history. MLB analyst Jeff Joyce believes that acquiring a starting pitcher could be the key to elevating the team’s chances.

MLB Rumors: Phillies seen as 'most aggressive' in trade talks for White Sox star Garrett Crochet – Calh News Update

“Garrett Crochet could be the player to put the Phillies over the top,” Joyce stated.

While Joyce acknowledged several contending teams that could benefit from adding Crochet, he emphasized that the Phillies’ existing roster is well-positioned to maximize his impact in a postseason run for 2025.

Crochet was a rare bright spot in an otherwise dismal 2024 season for the Chicago White Sox, who endured a franchise-record 121 losses. In 32 starts, Crochet posted a 6-12 record with a 3.58 ERA and racked up 209 strikeouts over 146 innings, marking the best season of his career since debuting in 2020.

Although Crochet was the subject of trade speculation during the 2024 season, no deal materialized. However, trade talks have resumed this offseason, with Crochet reportedly interested in joining a team poised for contention.

For the Phillies, adding Crochet to their rotation—already anchored by Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler—could make a formidable pitching staff even stronger. With their sights set on returning to the World Series in 2025, Crochet may be the missing piece to complete their championship puzzle.
