All 30 Major League Baseball teams would love to have Juan Soto on their roster in 2025, but with his steep asking price, only a select few are serious contenders, while one team remains hopeful.
While baseball fans worldwide eagerly await the on-field action of Spring 2025, all eyes are currently on superstar slugger Juan Soto and his potential blockbuster free agency deal. After coming agonizingly close to a World Series title with the New York Yankees, Soto is poised to secure a historic contract.

Although every team would jump at the chance to add a player of Soto’s caliber, only a select few have the resources to make it a reality. The New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays, and Boston Red Sox are leading contenders. However, there’s another team that could have an outside shot at landing Soto: the Philadelphia Phillies.
Bryce Harper could recruit Juan Soto to the Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies ended Atlanta’s streak of consecutive division titles by clinching the National League East crown in 2024 with a 95-67 record. However, their postseason run was cut short by an unexpected opponent, the New York Mets, a division rival. With 2025 on the horizon, the Phillies are eager for redemption, and Juan Soto could be the key to achieving it.
Signing Soto, though, poses a significant challenge for the Phillies, as he’s reportedly seeking a contract worth over $700 million. However, a personal connection might improve their chances.
Soto previously played alongside Bryce Harper and Trea Turner during his time with the Washington Nationals. While this trio didn’t share the field during the Nationals’ 2019 World Series triumph, they experienced considerable success together in Washington.
Reuniting these three in Philadelphia, along with stars like Kyle Schwarber, could instantly make the Phillies a World Series favorite. While it may seem improbable, personal ties have a way of making the unexpected possible.
