Let’s get straight to the point—there’s a lot to unpack here.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago White Sox are reportedly in discussions about a blockbuster trade involving Garrett Crochet and two top Phillies assets. While these teams have been linked in trade talks for Crochet before, it now seems this major deal could finally come to fruition.

“They have spoken about Bohm and outfield prospect Justin Crawford in extensive trade talks with the Chicago White Sox for starter Garrett Crochet, but the White Sox are concerned with Bohm’s struggles in the second half, posting a .681 OPS with just four home runs,” Nightengale reported.

This raises a key question: who would play third base for Philadelphia if Bohm is dealt? Nightengale suggests Alex Bregman or Willy Adames as potential replacements, but it’s hard to imagine the Phillies parting with their All-Star third baseman without securing a strong alternative first.

The deal could also include the Phillies’ No. 3 prospect, Justin Crawford. At just 20 years old, Crawford has posted an OPS of .800 or higher over the past two seasons and is known for his elite speed in the minors.

Another possibility, which Nightengale didn’t mention, involves the Phillies’ top prospect, Aidan Miller. A natural shortstop, Miller could be called up to play either third base or allow Trea Turner to move over if Bohm is traded. Miller’s impressive performance against minor-league pitching makes this a viable option.

Either way, the Phillies appear to be the frontrunners to land the coveted White Sox ace this offseason, a move that could potentially give them one of the best rotations in baseball.
