The Dodgers bolstered their pitching depth.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have moved on from their recent World Series triumph. While the championship rings will be handed out on Opening Day and the celebratory parade has faded into memory, the organization knows one title isn’t enough. Waiting another 36 years for a championship would be unacceptable. Determined to add more hardware, the Dodgers have been proactive, securing agreements with pitchers and Dustin May before the arbitration deadline.

According to Robert Murray (Fansided MLB), Gonsolin’s deal is worth $5.4 million, while Jack Harris (Los Angeles Times) reports that May signed for $2.13 million. Both figures strike a reasonable balance, especially given that both pitchers are returning from injuries.

Gonsolin and May bolster the Dodgers’ pitching depth, complementing the team’s new designated hitter and National League MVP, Shohei Ohtani. With Ohtani no longer needing to shoulder a heavy pitching workload, Gonsolin and May provide experienced, reliable arms to help navigate the demands of a 162-game season.

Both pitchers have overcome Tommy John surgery in recent years but have shown enough promise for the Dodgers to bet on their All-Star potential. Meanwhile, the team opted to non-tender relievers Brent Honeywell Jr. and Zach Logue, making them free agents and opening up two spots on the 40-man roster. These moves leave room for potential additions in free agency, where Ohtani has been subtly monitoring Japan’s latest sensation, Roki Sasaki, as he prepares for an MLB debut.

“I haven’t actively recruited him,” Ohtani shared. “We’re friends, and we talk about baseball and life in general. I’ll respect his decision, and I’m confident he’ll succeed wherever he goes.”

For now, Gonsolin and May can focus on the upcoming season with the Dodgers, dreaming of another championship run with a reloaded roster.
