The Los Angeles Dodgers are reportedly among the leading contenders in trade discussions for Chicago White Sox ace. After opting not to trade Him at the July deadline, the White Sox are expected to move him this offseason. According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies are at the forefront of these talks. Additionally, Jon Heyman of the *New York Post* has reported that the Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets have also expressed interest in acquiring Him.
The White Sox are said to be seeking at least one “blue-chip” prospect in return for the pitcher. The Dodgers, with four players ranked among MLB.com’s top 100 prospects, may need to part with one to secure Him. Their top prospects include Dalton Rushing (ranked No. 39), Josue de Paula (No. 48), Alex Freeland (No. 70), and Jackson Ferris (No. 78).
Crochet, who just completed his first full season as a starting pitcher in MLB, delivered a career-best performance in 2024. After debuting as a reliever without ever playing in the minors and overcoming Tommy John surgery, he returned to serve as the White Sox’s Opening Day starter. He posted a 6-12 record with a 3.58 ERA and 209 strikeouts over 32 starts. Despite the subpar win-loss record, largely due to the White Sox’s dismal 41-win season, Crochet ranked seventh in MLB for strikeouts.

In addition to Crochet, the Dodgers are also reportedly one of two frontrunners for Orioles ace Corbin Burnes, who posted a 2.92 ERA and 181 strikeouts in 2024. Whether they acquire Crochet, Burnes, or even Japanese star Roki Sasaki, the Dodgers are widely expected to bolster their rotation with a high-profile addition this offseason.
