The Mets have bolstered their pitching staff with an interesting new addition.
Following their 2024 NLCS run, the New York Mets are focusing on bolstering their roster for an even deeper playoff push in 2025. One of their recent moves involves adding depth to the bullpen, albeit through a less high-profile signing.
The Mets have agreed to a one-year major league contract with right-hander, as reported by Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. The deal, a split contract, offers Him $850,000 in the majors and $225,000 in the minors.
While He isn’t guaranteed a roster spot out of spring training, the fact that he secured a major league deal suggests the Mets see potential in him. Yet to make his MLB debut, He could finally get his shot in 2025 with New York.

Originally drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2018, Hagenman was later traded to the Boston Red Sox as part of the 2023 Kiké Hernández deal. Across 200 minor league appearances, he has compiled a 32-15 record, a 3.87 ERA, and a 421/122 K/BB ratio. In 2024, Hagenman pitched for Boston’s Triple-A team, where he made a career-high 15 starts, posting a 4-6 record, a 4.91 ERA, and a 98/31 K/BB ratio. His experience points to a likely role as a long reliever if he cracks the major league roster.
The Mets finished the 2024 season with a team ERA of 4.03, ranking 17th in MLB. With Edwin Díaz as their standout closer, the team is looking to strengthen the bullpen ahead of him. Hagenman alone won’t solve New York’s bullpen needs, and more signings are likely on the horizon. Still, this move reflects the Mets’ strategy of finding under-the-radar contributors who could make an impact. While Hagenman might not be a headline grabber, he has the potential to be a valuable piece of the puzzle for the 2025 season.
