The Cleveland Guardians are just a few moves away from being serious World Series contenders.
Their main needs are in the rotation, an area that was already thin and now faces further challenges with Shane Bieber, Matthew Boyd, and Alex Cobb all entering free agency.
While the Guardians might not have the budget or desire to pursue a high-cost free agent like Corbin Burnes or Max Fried, they do have the option of exploring the trade market.
Their strong farm system provides valuable assets they could use to acquire a star player.
Bleacher Report recently suggested a mock trade involving Chicago White Sox pitcher Garrett Crochet.

The proposed trade is as follows:
“Hypothetical Trade: Cleveland trades OF Jaison Chourio, 1B Ralphy Velazquez, and RHP Braylon Doughty to the Chicago White Sox for LHP Garrett Crochet,” they posted on X.

At 25 years old, Crochet is a promising pitcher with a 3.58 ERA and 209 strikeouts in 146 innings, making him a controllable asset. Consequently, the Guardians would need to offer significant prospect capital to make this deal happen.
While hypothetical, this trade is close to the kind of package Cleveland would need to offer to tempt the White Sox into dealing Crochet.
Both Chourio and Velazquez are highly-rated prospects, but whether they’d be enough to headline a deal for Crochet would be up to Chicago.
Envisioning Crochet at the top of the Guardians’ rotation is exciting for fans, as he could add both swing-and-miss ability and electric stuff to their pitching staff, making him a strong hypothetical fit.
