Kalen DeBoer provided a significant injury update on an Alabama wide receiver.
Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer recently provided a significant injury update concerning the Crimson Tide. In a setback for the Alabama offense, which has enjoyed a solid yet sometimes inconsistent season led by senior quarterback Jalen Milroe, DeBoer announced that wide receiver Cole Adams will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a leg injury sustained in the game against Missouri.

While sharing the news, the first-year Alabama coach commended Adams’ resilience, elaborating on the challenges the freshman has faced this season. “He’s someone who gives his all,” DeBoer told Alabama beat writer Nick Kelly. “He dealt with an (arm) injury earlier in the season, and watching his effort to overcome that setback revealed a lot about his character and toughness. Unfortunately, he’s now dealing with another injury.”
Alabama’s playoff chances are still very much alive
Despite having two losses, Alabama football remains in a strong position to secure a spot in the first-ever, twelve-team College Football Playoff. The Crimson Tide currently hold the No. 11 ranking in the AP Poll, with their most pivotal game of the season just around the corner.
In what is essentially a play-in game for the College Football Playoff, No. 14 LSU will host Alabama on Saturday, November 9th. This showdown between the two-loss teams will likely determine which team stays in the playoff hunt, as the winner will have a prime opportunity to make the bracket, while the loser will be all but eliminated from title contention.
Following this matchup, both teams face significantly easier schedules. The only ranked team left for either side is LSU’s home game against No. 24 Vanderbilt. Meanwhile, Alabama’s final three games after this high-stakes showdown are even more manageable.
Alabama will host Mercer the week after facing LSU, then travel to Norman to take on a struggling Oklahoma team, before ending the season with the Iron Bowl against Auburn, who recently suffered a disappointing home loss to Vanderbilt. Ultimately, Alabama’s playoff hopes largely hinge on Saturday’s outcome.
However, the recent injury to freshman Adams is a setback for Alabama. The Owasso, Oklahoma native delivered his best performance against South Carolina, recording 57 receiving yards and proving to be a valuable contributor on special teams throughout the season.
How Alabama responds to this news ahead of their season’s most critical game in Death Valley will be intriguing to watch.
