Though Indianapolis Colts linebacker may not yet be a household name, his performance in the first six weeks of the 2024 NFL season has been outstanding. Speed currently leads the league with 44 solo tackles.
Earlier this season, he matched an NFL record set by Zach Thomas, recording at least ten tackles in eight straight games dating back to last year. In Week 5, Speed had a chance to break that record against the Jaguars but came up three tackles short in a 37-34 loss.
Unfortunately, Speed appeared on the Colts’ injury report earlier in the week, casting doubt on his availability for Week 7.
Despite signs of improvement—missing Wednesday’s practice, participating in a limited capacity on Thursday, and practicing fully on Friday—the Colts announced Saturday afternoon that Speed’s status had been downgraded from questionable to doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
