The 2024 season for the Chicago White Sox has finally come to an end, and with it, the time on the South Side for Danny Mendick, Zach Remillard, and Touki Toussaint. All three have chosen to enter free agency, after playing roles for the team over the past two difficult 100-loss seasons. Now, they are looking to explore new opportunities elsewhere.

Danny Mendick: A Journey Through Ups and Downs
Danny Mendick has been a familiar presence in Chicago for several years, aside from his stint with the New York Mets in 2023. Drafted in the 22nd round back in 2015, Mendick’s path to and through the majors has been defined by perseverance and versatility.

His career includes notable highlights, such as his impressive .289/.343/.443 slash line in 2022. However, recent difficulties staying above the Mendoza Line highlight the challenges of maintaining consistent production in the majors. With his decision to enter free agency, it signals the close of an era for the White Sox, as they part ways with a player who has been deeply ingrained in their system.
If Mendick’s time with the Sox is truly over, here’s one final #dancingfordubs for old times’ sake.
Touki Toussaint: From Waiver Claim to Free Agent
Touki Toussaint’s time with the White Sox was a rollercoaster of ups and downs. After being claimed off waivers from Cleveland in 2023, he initially flashed potential as a starter. But following 15 starts that year, he transitioned to the bullpen, where he struggled with a 7.43 ERA over 11 appearances in 2024. Once a highly regarded first-round pick, Toussaint departs the White Sox with a mixed legacy as he looks for new opportunities.
Zach Remillard’s Leap and Stumble
Zach Remillard’s journey to the majors was like something out of a movie, setting a club record by reaching base in all four of his plate appearances and delivering a heroic performance in his MLB debut.
The kind of @MLB debut you dream of.

However, sustained success at the top level remained out of reach. Remillard faced challenges in both the majors and at Triple-A Charlotte last season. After spending his entire professional career with the White Sox, he’s now looking for a new opportunity elsewhere.
